Trent's Mom flew into town to spend a couple days with us so we thought it would be the perfect time to try out the new hike to a waterfall that our neighbor told us about. Forget about the bad weather forecast. It couldn't be accurate.
Before we even got out of the car it was sprinkling. Trent was told it wasn't a long hike, the weather was warm outside and Mary said she really wanted to see the waterfall, so we unloaded and hiked/ran to the waterfall before it really started to dump on us....and pour it did--think cats and dogs....
Still lots of fun. Very pretty scenery and a new adventure to walk in the rain.
If you stick to the sides of the path, you don't get as wet. The trees are able to give somewhat of a shelter.

Can't really call it a hike when everything is paved. But you couldn't get to the waterfall otherwise.
Everyone is fairly wet by now. It's no longer sprinkling at this point.
Why would Grandma be taking the hand of a well seasoned little hiker?

...which proved to be even more fun...steep, slippery steps.

At this point I was wondering why we hadn't brought our shampoo with us.
On the way back we had to stop to dry the little girl's dripping head. You can see the condition of Trent's shirt and the wood walkway where the shelter gave cover and where it did not.
Trent's Mom was only here a couple of days and this was our chance to see the waterfall and when in Ohio, you can't really wait around for a non-rainy day, so you just go no matter what. At least that was what Trent and his Mom were feeling.

Another day, we took a walk around the 'hood. And even in spring, you can find a pile of leaves to throw on your sibling nearby.
At first they were just throwing them up in the air onto themselves. But then graduated...
...to devised attacks on the guy in your immediate vicinity.
But little bud is a good sport and he immediately tried wiping off whatever damage he had done.
Grandma tried to help as well.
But only the bath could get it all out.
On Monday, the local Symphony put on a play called Peter and the Wolf. It's reminiscent of Gingerbread man with the mature theme/actions (I'm not always for the stuff that has characters eating other characters, but somehow the kids see past that and don't ask questions. But, the best character of the play was the wolf). It was designed for kids 2-5, so we booked our tickets and anxiously awaited the kids' first play with a real symphony. We weren't allowed to take pictures during the actual play so this is all I could get.
The one on the left was the duck that was eaten and then the hunter later on. The girl on the right was the cat.

A hike, leaf throwing and a play. As well as a trip to Columbus to attend the temple as a couple while Trent's mom watched the kids. We also got to see some of the pictures from Trent's mom and dad's trip to Turkey and Greece as they retraced the steps of the ancient apostles. Nice, enjoyable trip with Grandma. Glad she made it home alright.
