Last Day

Grandparents have to go home, and before they did, we wanted to make sure they didn't go limp and their muscles go weak from all their lazy relaxing while they were here...so we set up a tennis 'lesson' for Mom and Trent joined my Dad for an easy 20 miler through some tow path scenery. Still a little bare being in March, but plenty to look at all the same. Especially if you compare it to the brown that my Dad usually rides around looking at.
Mom did great. She's in such great shape. Even after several surgeries. Can't keep the girl down for long.

She picked up the sport after her kids were grown and has been competing competitively for awhile now and is probably the nicest person you'll ever loose to.

We were watching Gma when all of a sudden we see these two guys walk up in biker gear (not the leather and spike kind). They went up Riverview rd to Peninsula and came down the Akron-Cleveland road. Trent had to run to an appt so I loaded his bike into the car and drove him home while Poppy rode all the way back to the hotel.
No leather or spikes, but still a real tough guy. Don't try to race him either. Just throw in the towel and save yourself some soreness for trying.

While the old people got cleaned up, the kids jumped all over the bed.

Then we drove to Medina for some Steak and Seafood in an old styled restaurant. It is a renovated former stagecoach stop built in 1858.
Try the French Dip. It has a thick, gravy type au jus.
The lunch came with entertainment. Gratis.

After lunch, go stroll down the old time main street shops.
And in the center, is a park to let the kids run around.

But they'll get distracted with the Train and Toy museum off their public square.
Ask the guy behind the front desk to unlock the museum door on the second floor for you. He'll show one of you around all the rooms and ask you to turn off the lights when you're done. A very self serving place. Nice.

They have several model trains running around some tracks. To get the trains moving, the kids push a button along the wall that runs on a timer so all the kids get a turn to start the engines.

Couple of train tables for the kids to play with.

A giant model house built by a woman...she broke up jewelry pieces to make chandeliers, spools for tables, sandpaper for the roof, and styrofoam cut to look like a fireplace. Impressive.
The inside. All done by hand. Modeled after a real home in the 1800s I believe.

Dollhouse and Treehouse to play with

Check out the details that went into this Barouche...

Germans were very serious about their doll making

While most of us enjoyed our caloric intake in restful fashion, others worked on burning off whatever calories they put in.
Great weather. A fun time. Counting down till we can do it all again.
