Trent and I decided to head up North to celebrate our 3 day weekend. Pretty wet weather, but plenty of activities to keep us busy. Right when we arrived, it was time to unpack the car and then go to work cleaning it out. B supervising from the sun visor.

Later in the day we went for a hike into some caves just a little ways North of Trent's parents house. Once again, Mom forgot B's jacket...

Checking out the wildlife.

The hiking party -Trent

Treacherous slope into the abyss...but we made it.

Grandpa, Trent and B. 3 generations of Sorensens. Always feel safe and well cared for when around this group of men.

Wait B! Don't do it! Grandpa will let you drive the car, just don't jump!
(Actually, B just wanted to keep exploring and so Grandpa let him and served as his safety)

With so many small towns in the surrounding area, they each take their turns hosting a holiday weekend which allows for everyone to gather and not be split between competing activities. Memorial day is Chesterfield's turn to put on the show. They did an excellent job. Seems like everyone either participated in putting it together or was involved in some kind of volunteer/paid work. Bake sale, pioneer toys and games and clothes, homemade jars of jams and jellies, and an impressive amount of restored homes. They're almost done with their Tourist Video to let people know what is out there.
We started out our trip around the town in the right way...with a stop at the bake sale. Apparently B was a little peeved that Mom was enjoying some sweets and he wasn't.

So I decided to share my spoils. MnM cookie. I think he approved of the home-baked goods.

Next stop on our little excursion was down this road and to the left for a stop at the Merchant Store.
Just a sampling of a few of the homemade jams and jellies. I didn't even try to count the different varieties available.

The Candy Wall

As we left the store and walked outside...there was quite a line of people waiting their turn for some 'practice' squirrel shooting. They may have had an infestation many moons ago and this was either something done for property protection purposes...or just merely for sport. Either way, the shooting station was a hit.
Walking up the road to the next house, you look to your left and this is what you see...

And looking ahead, this is what I see...

It was quite a walk, so we had to stop for some petrol...

Shell self serve station. Never seen one of these in my life and still have no idea what it was used for. Was this the first gas station pump?

We still had a long ways to go so we grabbed a cold one for the road.

Good thing we were refreshed with our cokes, cause they put us to work making butter. Nice of them to not make us pay for our bread after all that work churning their butter. B was a big help, a good shaker.

After a brief potty break for little B, we visited this nice house. I think they started on this one in 2005 and most of the descendants of the house worked on it as they could as well as a couple of kids from the local schools using it for some projects. Dig trenches all around the house to fill with cement to stop the rodents, completely re do the roof and walls. Scrub the furniture and appliances that are still around inside (after looking at the before and after pictures, it's amazing they could even recognize some of the pieces amid the rubble). Then fine tune the place till it looks practically live-able...(still would not like to go outside to get my water or see to my plumping needs).
At this house, I found Kyleigh's stroller. A little used, but in working condition...and comes with the doll.

B and T on a stroll out in the backyard.
