We couldn't wait to get to Powell this year. It took forever to arrive. When it did, we were ready: sand pail and toys, sunblock and suits. That's about it. I love packing for this kind of trip. (Mom and Dad on the other hand have quite a bit more to worry about: food for each meal each day, blankets, towels, bedding, toiletries, games, movies, etc etc...and we're so thankful for their extra work to make our play more enjoyable).
We arrived late night Friday, got the kids unpacked and then the gear while aunties, uncles and grandparents took over the kids. Beds were set up and kids thrown into them. They slept pretty well. We always wake up early at Powell. I like living by the clock of the sun rather than the bedside one.
The marina, along with the fuel dock and slips, has a nice restaurant, shop and mini play area for kids...
...so Court and Maddy jumped right in....alright, to take care of B and let him splash around.
(the jumps in the background are for wakeboarding. They have a cable and everything).
The spectators. We had to wait for some repairs to be done before launching, otherwise we'd be out on the lake by now scoping out our piece of real estate to live for the next week.
2 little fishies. I had no idea Court liked swimming so much. I'm glad she does, Brenden had a good time.
"Check it out fellas, it's like this....." (Brenden just showing the local boys how it's done).
Are we ready to finally leave??! I want some real sand and a water hose to play with!!
"Poppy, may I pretty please sit with you?"
"Not till you get out of those soaking wet clothes"
I doubt that smile is solely brought about by the warmth from the blanket.
All that swimming just knocked the pregnant lady out. Her body is working hard, though.
As a kid, I hated this part. It took forever to get to the beach and unload all the toys. Now, I love this part. Beautiful, relaxing and good time for tanning.
Captain and his first mate.
Sailing the open seas (almost)

Perhaps this is why Brenden loves sitting on Pop Pop's lap...he comes away loaded with goods.
First-mate trying to log some extra hours.

Are we there yet?
With the help of Capt and his First-mate, we finally made it to our beach, anchored up, and jumped in.
The water was exceptionally fine.
King of the noodle...and Jared is loosing.
He lost. So sorry. Maybe you should just stick to tennis..and football...and baseball.......and basketball
Who's that lone man out there in the middle of the cove?

None other than the big kahuna himself. All that houseboat driving, pit digging, anchor tying, and boat securing must have got to him. Or it could just be that the water was enticing and inviting on a warm summer day out on the lake. Anybody care to join him?.....
A few other 'noodlers' swam over...to the middle of our own personal cove. Life is good.

Not baby girl. She was all tired out. (And I was told that this shot was not staged. She tucked herself in like that all by herself).
Ahh, what a sweet look Steph has...she must be checking out the baby, right?...
Nope, I was the photographer and she was most definitely checking out her husband. Tender moments. Kyleigh seems quite comfortable in her Uncle's arms.
Time to wipe away the sand and sunblock for the day. And the photographer who took this (I think it was Ash or maybe Mom) had timed it juuuuust right. They got a smile out of her. It's not that easy when dealing with a babe. They'll give you a smile, but the camera doesn't cooperate and capture it before they turn and move onto something else. So thanks you two. This will be nice to show Kyleigh in a couple years when she no longer fits in this sink.
Clean, dry babies all seem to find their way to Pop Pop's lap.
So glad Trent now has a couple full weeks vacation so we can join weeklong in all the festivities.
What could he be looking at???
Could it be the tv or this strange creature who sits in a chair like Scotty but looks like a Maddy.
Speaking of Scotty, the camera caught him! Had to do it while his eyes were closed, but we got him.
I don't think the leg will give you much distance, bud. But good try. You still got beat.
After being had so handily by Poppy, he probably had to run and grab his super-suit to help him out for the next hand-to-hand combat.
Scotty trying to bring in dinner.

But, no need. It was Flank steak night.
While the girls worked inside on preparing one of our incredible meals, toddler man couldn't wait to get outside to test out the new gear, Trent took both kids and went out to play. So many castles to build and sand to return to its native waters.

This was a nice beach. Not a whole lot of stickers like we've had in the past.

Keep it PG, Kyleigh. This is a family houseboat.
She was not being helped to the potty. She has a diaper on, remember??

She just needed a little assistance to the waters edge. And was doing just fine.....
...But someone thought differently and came to give her some big brotherly advice on the proper technique.

Oh Hello
Incredibly intimidating. The kids on the playground just don't mess with him.
Hey John, what time is it?

Sliding and Diving time

180
(The dive below is not from the same slide as above. John is good, but not that good) ;)

There may be alot of photos of the dudes sliding, jumping and swimming but that's probably cause they were the ones doing it the most (and I just don't see them running to the camera when us girls are in the water).Uh oh, why is Brenden so worried???
Probably about his Daddy in the annual duo backflip off second deck

Impressive.
John debating the jump off the third deck.
Madison showing off her 'style'. We are so proud.

My pretty little Momma. Now, that's style.
Some more tender moments. Sometimes we are glad Maddy sneaked into our family :)
Oh, busted Maddy! Don't wipe that cheek. Kisses are good.
Just ask Steph. :)
More fun Aunties.
Where are these Aunties taking him???
To watch the dudes hike up the mountain and jump off the cliff. (White arrow shows their location).

To end this post (not the end of the trip. I have to cut this into segments cause, come on, I can do a photo essay on an afternoon in our backyard, but supposed to do an entire week in one post? No way. Not possible. Too many good photos.) So, to end this installment, we part with some humor. For some reason, all the guys held their arms up in the air when jumping. Must be a guy thing. (Cause, as noted previously, no photographic evidence exists to prove that the women do it too).
Jared
Trent

John

Scott was our lone anomaly to this jumping phenomenon.

Our view in the morning. Paradise.
