On November 23, 2013 I packed the 3 kids in the car, Kent was only 1 month old at the time, and we drove down to Orrville, Ohio-40 minutes to drive 30 miles. Beautiful country. It's one of the routes you can take to head south to Amish country. Large rolling hills, farms and orchards and green all around.
The drive is pretty quick. Kids don't have time to get restless, especially if I bring enough books to keep them entertained. Kent did well also.
I love all the festive-wear that is on display. Combine that with cooking tools and it makes for a nostalgic feel.
This was Kyleigh's patented smile. Looking slightly upward through her eyes and a pleasant grin on her petite, creamy face.
One of the store employees was charged with keeping the people in the long Santa line happy. Her hat had a jingle and a 'dance' to it when she placed it on the kids' heads.
Finally, we made it to the front of the line. Brenden was pleased as punch, but Kyleigh was not too certain what was going on. No one gave her the protocol for this kind of display. She picked the sweet granny type, and luckily Mrs. Claus comes armed with plenty of "kid-know-how" and she was able to lure Kyleigh out of her stone-face and into a conversation.
The lady leaning into the picture in the green shirt is telling the Claus couple that they are due for a break soon, but Mrs. Claus was worried about keeping all the people in line waiting while they took a break. Nice woman. But of course. She's a Claus. They're serving, giving kind of people.
B & K are "in" with the Clauses. ;)
Brenden though Santa was real swell. Kyleigh ended up enjoying her talk with the Mrs.
And Kent stayed asleep the entire time. Made for a very memorable trip.
