We signed Brenden up for soccer. It was at the beginning of the school year and before we knew of all his fears and phobias and difficulties. We probably should have done this a year earlier or later and not at the same time as starting a new school. Kinda overload for him. He would not participate. Most games he took awhile to warm up to the idea of walking on the field. Then, once he got in, he was a bystander in the middle of the action. Never chased the ball and if it came to him, mostly watched it go by with little attempt to defend it. He loved playing with the poles on the corner and the goalie net.
When we got him dressed for his games, he was excited and got all his gear on...it was only once we arrived at his field did he start his non-committal/non-compliance attitude of not wanting to participate or be involved. I'm
Ball started coming toward him. He wasn't sure what to do.
Other team scored a goal. We're kicking off to our teammate. B gets to do the honor. :)
At least mine isn't the only one not paying attention to the game currently in progress :)
His coach was the greatest. He knew that B wasn't getting a whole lot of contact with the ball, so whenever the action stopped and a ball to throw in or penalty kick, he let Brenden do it. B liked that.
The soccer fields have a playground...that's where Kyleigh spent most her time.
Lucky for B, there are some really nice boys on the team that he enjoys playing around with. Unfortunately it's not playing the game of soccer, but just goof off time.
