Easter Bunny doesn't have a whole lot of elves working for him, so not only do we have to do all the prep work of dyeing the eggs (he couldn't color his own for some reason), but we also have to go look for them once he passes our house. At least he leaves us some sugar to give the kids (and adults) enough high to do all his dirty work.
Sugar or not, Brenden needed no prompting on what to do once he was let loose into the backyard. It took him awhile to find his first egg, but he had a few guidance counselors to help.
First egg of the seasonal hunt.
One down, 33 to go.
Must hurry 'cause your only other competitor has some 'insider' assistance.
An egg? That's what this whole hunt is for? I can think of a bunch of other stuff that would be far more worthwhile hunting.
Poppy teaches Kyleigh how to egg hunt
Alright, where's the next one. Come on, Poppy. Keep up.
She reminded me of the game Operation where you can't touch the sides when trying to grab your item. She was determined not to let the green stuff touch her on the way to grabbing the blue egg.
It took a mini village to help her find the next egg.
This one was slippery
This one was possibly not a bunny (or chicken) egg.
Kyleigh and her bag boy.
The Hunt this year included some rock climbing.
Even after the Hunt was officially over, Kyleigh kept following Poppy....she had a hard time understanding that he wasn't going to point her to the next colorful edible.
Brenden is showing Poppy the orange egg that cracked the night previous while dyeing. Grandma told him to be careful cause a chicken might come out of it now, and the whole night he was telling us to be quiet cause the chicken might come out, don't rock the tray cause the chicken might come out, and handle it gently cause the chicken might come out. Some how, the chicken still hadn't come out by the next day and was still only cracked. As we took off later that day to go home, he reminded Gma to take care of his chicken when it comes out. Grandma is a clever one. Made for some great laughs....
On Grandma duty.
Looks pretty even. For a rookie, Kyleigh made out well.
Court is making sure we have them all so that Gpa and Gma won't accidentally have a smelly backyard in a few days.
The Rookie and her bounteous Booty
Her favorite one?
One incredibly handsome guy. Perfect little features. This is Court and Jared's kid.
The kids with their baskets. After some searching, I finally found Kyleigh's eyes.....
'Bout as big as she was.
Gma helping K Mae
Aunty Court helping Brenden
After The Hunt and Amana Ham Easter Dinner, we hacked away at Brenden's Thomas the Train pinata that we brought down for his birthday. After Kyleigh, Brenden, Hedda, Maddy and Court all had a turn, Jared went after it, and broke it in two, but all the candy stayed inside one half. No mess. No fun. So we had Jared pitch the candy half to Trent who finally broke all the candy out of it and made a mess out of Grandma's lawn.
Home run.
Hunt over, Lunch finished, Pinata demolished, Car packed, we begrudgingly got into the car and drove 6 hours north...to more rain and even snow tomorrow. Both kids were out by the time we got on the 215, Kyleigh only stayed in that blissful position for 2 hours and never went back down until we pulled into our garage at 9:45 that night. Crazy, rebellious girl. Lucky for her, she has a brother who is very entertaining. He kept playing hide and go seek with her and she loved it.
You would think that with all the activity of the day and the late night that she would sleep in? Nope, she was yelling at her Mom and Dad at 6:45 the next morning to let her loose for some more disaster...I mean fun. I think she was still on a sugar hangover cause she kept running down my hallway from the kitchen into Brenden's room and even Brenden couldn't keep up with her today. Great time. Good food. Excellent company. We'll have to do it again sometime. 'Break in' a few more rookies next year....
