Crayola Factory in Easton, Pennsylvania

Crayola Factory was our last stop in our PA/NY trip. Cool place. Lots of attractions. Link here. Trent had a big paper to turn in and needed some time alone to finish and turn it in before we headed home. Once the kids woke up, he sat in the car working on it until we were ready to leave. We had heard about the Crayola Factory and thought the kids would like it as well as help them get tired and worn out before the drive home. So I took the kids an extra hour (round trip) eastward before we headed almost 6 hours westward.
B loved forming locks in the water to help the boats sail from one end of the room to the other.

Washed hands and went into the neighboring room. Craft table with various supplies to make whatever you can imagine, a couple white sculpture-type animals for kids to draw all over, a jungle gym area, watercolor painting, and a puzzle making station all in this room. We didn't even get to the upperfloor in this area. Lots of choices.

B didn't want to get off the jungle gym to make a puzzle. Kyleigh did. She drew a picture and then I put it in their cutting machine thing and it made a jig saw puzzle to take home of their own art.

Watercolor time. They had to hurry at this station because they were calling anyone who wanted to watch the show of how crayons are made in the other room. Kids wanted to see that.

Now they know how those colored wax sticks are made....

The next room we went into had a place where we took our picture and it printed out with a background of our choice. Then you take the picture and can color it there with their giant assortment of crayons or take it home. (We may have done a few more of these than they typically want per customer).

In the last room we went into the kids got to make a marker. You put in your token and then choose the two colors you want and watch as they shove a sponge into a clear marker case, then inject a needle into the sponge that shoots the ink into it-a different color on each side of the marker. Then it shows you how they close and cap it off, then it drops into the bottom bucket for the kids to take home. We made several of these. Kids, and I, were fascinated.

Last stop of the night was the Crayola modeling clay/play doh. It's not quite play doh cause it doesn't really crumble, but it doesn't feel like clay either. Cool stuff. After the kids made a few creations, we packed the stuff into our sack they give you to take it home and loaded the car back up for the final time.

If only they knew just how long they were about to be stuck inside a car....

Their gift shop had more Crayola stuff than I even knew existed. Really cool stuff. I'm kinda glad the kids like to draw and color. Painting is probably their favorite though. I wasn't about to let any painting happen inside the car so they had to manage with their new play doh, crayons and markers they made. And it sure kept them entertained for a good portion of the trip.

We wouldn't be home till after bedtime, so I had everyone changed into pj's after the dinner stop.

These two are actually pretty good travelers. They'll color, read and play with toys for a while. When that gets old, I'll throw on a 2 hour movie and by then we are usually at our destination or they're asleep. This baby #3 better follow suit....

Baby Kent will have some great traveling companions to enjoy and be entertained by. Lucky chap.
