Halt everything....

In your world, this may not be big news, but in this house it was groundbreaking. Stuff to celebrate and dance around the kitchen. Our Brenden has not only passed of the y but the yy skills card and is on g! This means that he has memorized certain alphabets letters and a few sight words. He is now working on those letter sounds and more words. Something clicked inside his mind and he decided he really wanted to be like the other kids and so he's put in a lot of effort to get here. He's still behind the other kids, we've got a ways still to go...but this is big. Buddy wants something and he's working to get there. It's not always a walk in the park because sometimes he starts off with alot of desire to get the work done, but that tapers off and it's pulling teeth to get him to stay in the seat and finish what we started. 

Speaking of pulling teeth....no, we didn't pull any of his. He had a cleaning and they took x-rays. His adult teeth are close to coming through. And what's more, is they are huge. Trent said that he was a buck-tooth kid (I'll have to search for a kid picture of Trent for further proof). Brenden looks to be following those steps.

In other news, Brenden was hit by a bug, or two, or three. We took him in on Jan 30th because he started complaining about his ear hurting. Doctor found an ear infection and gave us azithromycin. After 4 days on that antibiotic, he wasn't getting any better, but was getting worse. So I called his pediatrician, and they told me to bring him in. This doctor was a pediatrician, the 1st guy wasn't, and he and his partner found an ear infection in both ears, a sinus infection and pneumonia from the x-ray findings. He was put on augmentin for 14 days and has improved dramatically. But, no more dramatically than from Saturday to Sunday...it was such a significant improvement from his chills, weak/lethargic body and over 102 temperature, that I cannot ignore that it was not the medication, but the fast that my Mom suggested our family do for him. Being the one who has been with him every waking minute and holding him or hauling him to doctors appointments...my belief in the significant power of the fast was increased. This guy was down, sleeping 3 hours in the day, and within a day, his energy was back and our smiling buddy again.

He said he was still cold with his hoodie on and space heater directed right on him.

We love this guy. He's worked hard for his academic improvement. Kicked a few illnesses. And he's back. We couldn't be more proud of this kid. Buck teeth and all.
